Glasgow Rangers were heavily linked with a move to bring Jordan Jones to Ibrox during the January transfer window.

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise upon Jordan Jones after the Gers’ January target provided another example to explain why Graeme Murty wanted to take him off Kilmarnock’s hands last month.
BBC Sport reported during the month that the Light Blues had made a £350,000 bid for the 23-year-old, but, of course, the window shut with Jones still on the books at Rugby Park with Rangers not seemingly willing to meet Killie’s valuation of the winger.

But on a day where Rangers missed the opportunity to close the gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership, Jones showed why the Gers were keen on him last month as he created the goal that allowed Steve Clarke’s side to hand Celtic only their second domestic defeat since Brendan Rodgers arrived at Parkhead in 2016.
The Northern Irishman demonstrated his class with a lovely pass across the box that split the Celtic centre-backs and found Youssouf Mulumbu unmarked at the back post.

The former Premier League midfielder calmly slotted the ball home as Killie recorded a 1-0 win. And Jones’ impressive display against the Hoops certainly did not go unnoticed by the supporters of the club that tried to sign him last month.
Some of the fans claimed that Rangers missed a trick not doing more to bring the wide-man to Ibrox during the window, and it has been suggested that the club need to revive their interest when the summer arrives.
