Glasgow Rangers got back to winning ways, with the Ibrox side claiming a 2-0 victory in their latest Scottish Premiership clash.
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jason Holt’s performance in the Gers’ win over Partick Thistle on Tuesday night. And while there was some criticism of the 24-year-old’s display, most of the Ibrox faithful were full of praise for the midfielder.
Holt has somewhat struggled to really prove himself with the Gers, often proving to be more of an understudy option rather than a regular starter threatening to be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
He has enjoyed a much more prominent role since Graeme Murty returned as manager, and has even captained the side in the last few weeks. Yet his inclusion in the squad for Tuesday’s game would have still been disappointing for some after he endured a poor afternoon in the weekend’s defeat to Hibernian at Ibrox.
But the former Hearts man seemed to do well to quieten some of his critics with his performance at Firhill. Holt was brilliant in the middle of the park as Murty’s men got back to winning ways with Josh Windass and James Tavernier scoring either side of the break to inspire the 2-0 victory.
And after the game, the large majority of the Rangers fans not only expressed their delight at Holt’s performance, but there was also a large number of fans who suggested that he was the man of the match in the win.
With players like Greg Docherty and Andy Halliday waiting in the wings, and Graham Dorrans and Ryan Jack currently sidelined with injury, there is plenty of pressure on Holt to make the most of his chance. And his latest display just hints that he is staking his claim to keep his place.
