Glasgow Rangers reached the Europa League group-stages on a dramatic night for the Ibrox side.

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to laud Andy Halliday after the midfielder’s superb display in the latter stages of the Gers’ Europa League clash with Ufa in Russia.

It was a dramatic and turbulent night for the Light Blues. Steven Gerrard’s men took a slender 1-0 lead into the second-leg and everything appeared to be in hand for the visitors as Ovie Ejaria doubled their aggregate lead with a superb finish less than 10 minutes in.

But Alfredo Morelos was sent off shortly after the home side had equalised. And while they managed to initially deal with the pressure following Morelos’ dismissal, Jon Flanagan left Rangers in an even deeper hole as he was controversially sent off with over 20 minutes to go.

Flanagan’s dismissal prompted Gerrard to throw Halliday onto the field, and it proved to be an inspired substitution from the Gers boss as Halliday put in a fantastic performance in the final moments to help the Scottish Premiership side hold on for the draw on the night that set up a spot in the group-stages.

Halliday vindicated Gerrard’s faith in him completely, and his display prompted several Rangers fans to take to social media to heap praise upon him.

A number of the Ibrox faithful have lauded Halliday’s transformation and turnaround over the last few months after it seemed that his Rangers career may have been over one year ago, and it is clear that many are delighted with the way that he has fought his way back into the fold.
