Real took an early lead as Brazilian winger Rodrygo Goes bundled his way into the box and fired into the net – but Rangers hit back in the second half.
New signing Fashion Sakala was played in on goal and he smashed past Andriy Lunin to bring Rangers level against the Spanish giants.
Real defender Nacho Fernandez was given his marching orders for a second yellow card, and Rangers took full advantage.
Real couldn’t clear their lines and Itten swivelled to smash a fine finish past Lunin, handing Rangers a 2-1 victory.
It may only be a pre-season friendly, but beating Real in any game is something to celebrate, and striker Itten will be delighted.
The 24-year-old only scored six times in his first season with Rangers last term, but has looked sharp in pre-season with three goals so far.
Rangers fans have been taking to Twitter to react to Itten’s performance against Real, suggesting that Itten looks ‘very different’ this summer and looks like a new player.
Others think he is primed for a ‘massive’ season at Ibrox, believing that Itten will now bag double figures after a hit-and-miss first season.
