Some Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that the Ibrox club want to sign Gary Cahill.

What’s the story?

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are interested in signing Cahill in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

Rangers, who won the Scottish Premiership title last season, could give the 35-year-old centre-back £35,000 per week as salary.

Cahill is out of contract at Premier League club Crystal Palace and is a free agent at the moment.

The Premier League club want the former Chelsea central defender to stay, but their offer is ‘less basic cash with extras for appearances’.

What are Rangers fans saying?

As you can see from the tweets below, Rangers fans are split over the prospect of Cahill joining the Gers.

While some are pointing out that Cahill has a lot of experience, there are others who think that he is too old, and that there is no need to sign another centre-back.

Cahill is 35 now, but the English defender is very experienced.

The former Aston Villa centre-back was a regular during his time at Chelsea and played alongside the great John Terry, winning the Premier League and the FA Cup twice each, the Champions League once and the UEFA Europa League on two occasions.
