Rangers lost 5-0 to Old Firm rivals Celtic this afternoon.
Celtic enjoyed a dream afternoon earlier today, as they hammered Old Firm rivals Rangers 5-0 at Celtic Park to clinch the Scottish Premiership title.
Brendan Rodgers’ men went into the game knowing a win would secure a seventh straight league title, and they made the perfect start when Odsonne Edouard scored from Kieran Tierney’s cross.
Edouard got his second before James Forrest added a third, with Rangers all at sea in the first half, and Celtic rounded off their win when Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor both found the net.
It’s party time for Celtic, but Rangers were once again disappointing against Rodgers’ side, and the huge gap between the two teams was demonstrated once again.
That was almost certainly Graeme Murty’s final game in charge of Rangers, amid claims from BBC Sport that Rangers are confident of appointing Steven Gerrard as their new boss this week.
Gerrard, 37, will embark on his first managerial role by making the move to Ibrox, finally becoming the permanent replacement for Pedro Caixinha following his sacking back in October.
However, Rangers fans are now concerned that Gerrard will have seen the display against Celtic and will now change his mind about the job, with supporters taking to Twitter to voice their doubts.
Some want the club to announce a deal before Gerrard has chance to reconsider, with others saying they wouldn’t even blame him for turning the job down given the gulf between Rangers and Celtic, whilst some believe there is simply no way Gerrard will be heading to Ibrox now.
