McCrorie has struggled for game time under Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
Steven Gerrard’s activity in the transfer market saw Rangers bring in 15 new players, and though the majority of those have turned out to be successful, it has seen some of last-season’s players struggle – including Ross McCrorie.
The 20-year-old was one of the first names on the team sheet last season after Graeme Murty converted the Murray Park academy product into a holding midfielder, after making his debut as a centre-back under Pedro Caixinha.
But Gerrard decided to place his faith in another holding midfielder – Ryan Jack – while central midfielders Ovie Ejaria, Lassana Coulibaly and Scott Arfield have joined. Andy Halliday has been given a reprieve by Gerrard.
Indeed, McCrorie has managed just 11 appearances, clocking up only 426 minutes for the Scottish giants. After being left on the bench once again this season against Spartak Moscow, fans have discussed whether McCrorie deserves more game time.
There are a number of options for McCrorie. Either he convinces Gerrard that he can remain an option in holding midfield and continue to stake his claim in training, feeding off scraps.
He could also show his versatility and become an option at centre-back. But if he is keen to further his development, a loan move could be orchestrated for the youngster.
Rangers fans discussed his options, with many believing he is deserving of more game time while some supporters believe a loan move would be beneficial.
