Graeme Murty could decide to make a couple of changes to his Rangers side on Tuesday night as the Light Blues look to bounce back from their loss against Hibernian with a win over Partick Thistle – and fans want Greg Docherty to start.
The Gers suffered a 2-1 defeat to Neil Lennon’s Hibs at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon, with Sean Goss’ goal not enough to stop Hibs, who earned three points thanks to goals from John McGinn and Jamie Maclaren.
In what as an equal first half, the Gers dominate possession and were guilty of a number of missed chances during the second 45 as Goss’ equaliser was quickly cancelled out by Maclaren’s penalty.
Now, Murty’s side will be desperate to put things right and re-apply the pressure on Aberdeen in order to finish in second place, with three points over Alan Archibald’s Partick.
Rangers fans believe the best chance of that happening is by handing January recruit Docherty his first start for the Gers in the middle of the park, after the playmaker joined on a permanent basis from Hamilton.
His creativity could prove crucial, with three goals and six assists this season for Hamilton in just 21 league appearances for Martin Canning’s side. The assist machine could slice open the Partick defence.
One fan even claimed he will be “genuinely shocked if anyone still defends Murty if he doesn’t start Docherty on Tuesday”.
