Rangers fans could be in for some positive news regarding a return from Ibrox after WWE announced a return to Glasgow at the SSE Hydro just over one mile away from Ibrox.
While there remains a lack of clarity over how many fans will be allowed back into grounds, and when, the pro-wrestling giants have announced a British tour for the first time since to Covid pandemic first started – with the Hydro appearing to be close to full capacity for the shows in September.
The WWE Glasgow event takes place on September 22, four days after Rangers host Motherwell at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership
With no restriction apparent on purchasing tickets beyond the usual maximum of 8 from pre-Covid events, it looks as though there could well be positive news for football fans too.
Ridiculous if football fans remained locked out while Hydro is full
The Hydro sits just over a mile away from Ibrox on foot, located next door to the SECC on the northern side of the River Clyde, and has a full capacity of around 14,000.
Given the proximity of the arena to Ibrox, it is unfathomable that as many as 14,000 WWE fans could be permitted to attend an indoors event while Rangers fans remain largely locked out of Ibrox.
With the new season rapidly approaching, there could finally be some light at the end of the tunnel for fans desperate to see Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side in action.
After the Gers announced earlier today that 45,000 fans had bought season tickets, Rangers could be back playing in front of fans sooner rather than later.
