Rangers scored a late winner to beat Kilmarnock 2-1 this afternoon.

Rangers got their league campaign off to a perfect start as they beat Kilmarnock 2-1 away from home this afternoon.
The Gers saw rivals Celtic smashed St Johnstone 7-0 on Saturday, and knew they needed to put down a marker themselves.
Rangers haven’t enjoyed much success at Rugby Park in recent times, but did take an early lead as Scott Arfield scored from close range.
Steven Gerrard’s side struggled to really kill off the game though, and it looked like old habits would hit them again as Stephen O’Donnell scored a late equaliser for the hosts.
However, Rangers didn’t throw away points this time, instead claiming the win as Connor Goldson powered home a thumping header from James Tavernier’s last-gasp corner.
Rangers got the win they wanted, maybe not quite in such convincing fashion as they would have wanted, but they got the job done – and Ryan Jack was an important part of the win in midfield.

Some fans took to Twitter to praise Jack as ‘just class’, ‘absolutely tremendous’ and ‘excellent’, believing he was the heartbeat of the Rangers midfield alongside Steven Davis.
Others didn’t agree though, feeling he was ‘terrible’ and not good enough going forward to be a number eight, with substitute Glen Kamara preferred by some.
