Rangers defenders Russell Martin and David Bates have forged a partnership in the absence of Alves for Graeme Murty’s side.
Bruno Alves is back in contention for Hearts’ visit to Ibrox on Saturday, Rangers manager Greame Murty confirmed via the club’s Youtube channel on Friday afternoon.
The experienced Portugal defender has not appeared since Rangers’ 0-0 Old Firm draw at Celtic Park at the end of December.
In the meantime, January signing Russell Martin and academy product David Bates have forged a partnership at the heart of Rangers’ back line.
But after shipping three goals against Hamilton last week, at least one of the pair should be replaced by Alves in the eyes of several Gers fans – despite his shortage of match practice.

Alves, who signed for Rangers on a free transfer from Cagliari last summer, has also played for FC Porto, Zenit St Petersburg and Fenerbahce.
The 36-year-old also has 94 caps for Portugal and remains a part of the Seleção’s plans.
