Morelos has been on fire for Rangers this season under Steven Gerrard.
James McFadden criticised Alfredo Morelos when speaking to Sky Sports about the Colombian’s lack of discipline and urged Rangers to sign a player to compete with the striker – but his comments have not gone down well with Rangers fans.
Morelos, 22, has been sensational for Rangers this season, spearheading the club’s bid to keep pace with Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership as well as pushing the Gers into the Europa League group stages.
He has scored 16 goals in 26 games for Rangers, as well as providing nine assists for his teammates. However, it is his discipline that continues to come into question after he picked up another booking last time out.
Indeed, Morelos has received 11 yellow cards and two red cards this season, and McFadden stated that Rangers need another striker to compete with Morelos and replace the South American when he is suspended.
McFadden said: “They need to sort that out. His discipline is poor. He continues to let himself and his teammates down. It’s a difficult one because at crucial points in the season, he’s not available.”
Rangers fans reacted to McFadden’s comments, who is currently Scotland’s assistant manager to ex-Rangers boss Alex McLeish. Many criticised the former Motherwell and Everton striker, comparing Morelos’ form to that of McFadden’s stats.
