Rangers lost for the second straight Europa League game as they were beaten 1-0 away at Sparta Prague this evening despite Allan McGregor’s best efforts.

The Gers were hoping to hit back after a 2-0 defeat to Lyon in their first group game, but it was more of the same.

Rangers started well but faded quickly, and ended up losing 1-0 to a David Hancko goal.

Glen Kamara was sent off in the second half to compound a dismal night for Rangers, who face an uphill battle in their attempts to qualify for the knockout stages.

McGregor one of few to impress for Rangers

After a bright start, this ended up being a disappointing night for Rangers.

Very few players impressed for Steven Gerrard’s men, but goalkeeper McGregor did keep Rangers in the game.

McGregor made a number of fine saves to keep Sparta at bay, giving Rangers hope until the very end.

The 39-year-old has been in and out of the Rangers side this season but proved his worth once again tonight.

Rangers fans react

Rangers fans have been taking to Twitter to react to McGregor’s display, suggesting he was the only player to really impress.

Some called McGregor the best keeper in Britain or even the world, hailing his ‘ridiculous’ showing.

Others think McGregor has proven that he should be back in the Rangers side for good regardless of his age.
