Glasgow Rangers have received a major boost heading into Sunday’s game at Ibrox with the news that Alfredo Morelos has signed a new contract.

Rangers fans have been celebrating on Twitter after the club confirmed that Alfredo Morelos has signed a new contract that is set to keep him at Ibrox until 2021.
Morelos has been a revelation since arriving at Rangers in the summer. The 21-year-old is currently the second leading scorer in the Scottish Premiership this term with 13 strikes for Graeme Murty’s men, and that, unsurprisingly, led to plenty of interest in the forward during the winter window.

The Scottish Sun reported that the youngster was being linked with a £10 million move to China earlier this year, but he has clearly put any doubt about his immediate future to bed.
The club has confirmed that he has signed a one-year extension on his contract in news that is bound to give Murty’s side and the supporters a huge boost heading into Sunday’s Old Firm game at Ibrox.

Few could have suspected just how good Morelos would be during his first year. Even Pedro Caixinha seemed to not see the forward’s impact coming, as he left Morelos on the bench on the opening day of the season and started Eduardo Herrera up front.
But the fans are obviously delighted that he has agreed fresh terms that show his commitment to the club and put the Gers in a much stronger position if more interest emerges in the future.
Here is the best of the reaction…
