Rangers defender Nathan Patterson is set to leave Ibrox for a move to Everton, with a £10million deal now believed to be close.

The Daily Record claim that Everton are in ‘advanced talks’ with Rangers to finalise a deal for Patterson.

Everton are now confident of getting the deal done, which would see them pay more than £10million in total for Patterson.

That would be Everton’s second major full back signing of the January window, having already snapped up Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dynamo Kiev.

Rafael Benitez clearly feels it’s time for Everton to make changes in those areas.

Seamus Coleman needs real competition now and Patterson can provide that, whilst Mykolenko looks set to replace Lucas Digne.

Patterson, 20, was hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Steven Gerrard in 2021, but has found first-team starts hard to come by.

Patterson is stuck competing with James Tavernier at Rangers, meaning he has played in just six league games this season.

An exciting prospect for the future, Patterson now gives Everton their long-term heir to Coleman whilst handing Rangers a financial boost.
