Rangers loanee George Edmundson made his return to the starting XI for Derby County as Wayne Rooney’s side continued to fight for their Championship survival – losing 2-1 at home Birmingham City to leave them still uncertain of their place in the second-tier next season.
Edmundson moved to the Rams in January after falling out of favour at Rangers following the arrival of Leon Balogun last summer followed by Jack Simpson moving north in January but has been sidelined recently after needing to undergo a minor operation.
Derby took the lead as ex-Celtic striker Colin Kazim-Richards netted shortly before the break before another former SPFL star as Lukas Jutkiewicz drew the Blues level.
Six minutes before the end jutkiewicz scored again to leave Derby four points from safety with only two games to play.
The defeat was Edmundson’s eighth league appearance for Derby since his move from Rangers and the defender will be sweating over his Ibrox future ahead of his return to Glasgow.

With games against Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday to come before the curtain comes down on the season, Edmundson will be hoping he can help the Rams pull off the great escape and avoid falling into League One.
