Glasgow Rangers once had Kevin Mbabu on their books.

When Kevin Mbabu reflects on his career he may barely give Rangers a moment’s thought.
The full-back spent a brief spell at Ibrox on loan from Newcastle in early 2015.
His spell at Rangers never got started, he did not play a single game.
He was one of five Newcastle players sent out to Rangers on loan, and despite his lack of Ibrox success, he might be having the best career of all five.
Mbabu is currently playing for Swiss side Young Boys, and produced an impressive performance last night in the Champions League against Manchester United.
Now 23-years-old, Mbabu is a Swiss international and plays with an eye-catching combination of speed and power.

Mbabu’s surging runs forward are like a freight train up the right hand side and he dumped United midfielder Fred on his backside as he tried to catch up with him.
Even though Young Boys lost, Mbabu was impressive and left the game with his reputation enhanced instead of tarnished.
From a Rangers angle, it’s fair to say he would give club captain James Tavernier some real competition for his place if he was parachuted into Ibrox now as he was in 2015.
Of course Rangers probably couldn’t afford to buy the loanee now if they wanted to, with his value soaring fast.
His recent success only makes his Rangers spell even more bizarre, that Newcastle considered him expendable and that Rangers could not get him going either.
It’s testament to the player that he has managed to turn his career around.
