Glasgow Rangers suffered arguably their worst defeat two years ago but the Ibrox club has come a long way since then.

Glasgow Rangers director Stewart Robertson has given an optimistic and reassuring opinion about the Ibrox club ahead of the Light Blues going into the first leg of their Europa League qualifying tie with Progres Niederkorn (Herald Scotland).
The Luxembourg side is heading to Glasgow this week as they prepare to take on Steven Gerrard’s charges at Ibrox on Thursday night, just over two years after dealing Rangers arguably the worst results in their history, and the return leg will take place on 1 August.
Under the much-maligned Pedro Caixinha, the Gers were knocked out of the Europa League at the hands of Progres on 4 July 2017, having taken a 1-0 first-leg lead to Luxembourg only to succumb to a 2-0 defeat and thus a humiliating elimination.
Since then, Rangers have come a long way, with Steven Gerrard having impressed in his debut season in management and a strong team being assembled which is hoping to finally bring silverware back to Ibrox.

“There is no doubt the club is in a totally different position from where we were two years ago,” Robertson – speaking at the launch of the ‘Everyone Anyone’ campaign – said, as quoted by Herald Scotland.
“The foundations are much stronger than they were two years ago. A lot of rebuilding has been done since then. It’s been very, very positive. Don’t count your chickens, but I think we are going into it on a much better footing than we did two years ago.”
Rangers set up the tie with Progres, and as such the chance of redemption, as they claimed a 6-0 win over Gibraltar’s St Joseph’s at Ibrox for a 10-0 aggregate scoreline.
