Glasgow Rangers impressed at Ibrox this week as Steven Gerrard’s side saw off Progres in front of the Bears.

Glasgow Rangers legend Derek Johnstone has commented on the Ibrox club’s Europa League second qualifying round first-leg win over Progres Niederkorn and spoke very highly of how Gers played, in particularly the first half, as written in the Glasgow Evening Times.
Rangers put in a strong display at Ibrox against the team which, two years ago, consigned the famous club to one of its most humbling moments in their history, as Joe Aribo curled home the opener for Steven Gerrard’s side, while Sheyi Ojo struck after the break for a decent lead.
Approaching the half-hour mark, Ryan Jack and Joe Aribo – who had opened the scoring a few minutes earlier – combined well to lay the ball off to Alfredo Morelos, whose effort whizzed just wide of the far post.
Johnstone admitted that the Light Blues should have been out of sight in the game given the amount of chances they had, though he deemed it “just one of those nights” where the goal is just that little bit harder to find.

However, he is confident that Rangers have enough about them to go on and finish the job in Luxembourg, buoyed by the quality of football as he saw in the first half, and that the goals will eventually come.
“In the first half in particular, I thought Rangers played some great stuff and some of the one-touch football was terrific to watch,” Johnstone wrote in the Glasgow Evening Times. “The move that lead to Alfredo Morelos shooting just wide of the post, if he had scored then that was your goal of the season already. It was just wonderful to watch.”
