Glasgow Rangers defender Joe Worrall, on loan from Nottingham Forest, was in action for Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club against Aberdeen.
Rangers defender Joe Worrall
Worrall, who joined Rangers on loan from Forest in the summer transfer window, featured for the Gers in their 1-0 defeat to Aberdeen in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The 21-year-old defender – who was hailed by Gers manager Steven Gerrard as “fantastic” in August 2018, as reported on Sky Sports – has given his opinion on Aberdeen’s gameplan against Rangers.
Worrall told The Scottish Sun: “If the roles had been reversed and we were playing against a Rangers team then Aberdeen’s game plan is what we would want — to stick 11 men behind the ball, and then win it late on via a set piece like they did.”
Dig at Aberdeen?
Rangers defender Worrall’s comments are not really very complimentary to Aberdeen, and they do seem like a dig at them.

Aberdeen, though, did have more shots on target than Rangers did, and perhaps the Gers should have been more clinical and more creative.
At the end of the day, Aberdeen were better than Rangers, who are still in the race for the Scottish Premiership title and also have a chance of progressing to the knockout rounds of the Europa League.
