Glasgow Rangers defender David Bates will leave Ibrox for Hamburg in the summer transfer window.

As reported by BBC Sport, Bates has agreed a four-year contract with Hamburg and will join the German club in the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old central defender will move to Hamburg on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Rangers right-back Tavernier, who moved to the Ibrox club from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £200,000, has given his take on Bates’s decision to leave Rangers for Hamburg in the summer transfer window, and so has Gers legend Lee McCulloch.

Tavernier told The Scottish Sun about Bates: “He’s wanted to try a different place and Hamburg are a big team.
“This is football and people leave, people come in. It’s just the way football is these days. You never know who’s going to be staying.
“He’s been a terrific lad and worked really hard and I hope the move goes well for him.”
McCulloch told BBC Sport about Bates: “It’s a strange one for me. It’s a big surprise that he’s been allowed to go. I don’t think it looks good for Rangers.”

Good decision?
Bates is a talented and promising young central defender who should be a success at Hamburg.
Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in the world, but one can understand the temptation to play in a more competitive domestic football league.
