Glasgow Rangers defender Fabio Cardoso has endured a mixed time since arriving at Ibrox in the summer.

Fabio Cardoso has taken to Twitter to defiantly suggest that he has no plans to give up as he continues to fight for a place in the Rangers side.

It has been a difficult season for Cardoso since he arrived in the summer. After initially starting the campaign as a first-choice option, he has since dropped down the pecking order slightly following the nasty facial injury he picked up in the League Cup semi-final and since Graeme Murty took charge.

Cardoso has not started a league game since October. And the developing partnership between David Bates and Russell Martin hints that the Portuguese’s chances of getting back into the fold on a regular basis look somewhat slim unless an injury occurs.

And while some players would sulk about becoming a more peripheral figure, Cardoso has used social media to suggest that he is fully determined to make himself a success at Ibrox, captioning the photo he posted with the quote: ‘It’s very hard to beat someone who never surrenders.’

While Murty is not opting to use the centre-back very often right now, his apparent motivation will surely please the Rangers boss as he looks to get the best out of his side during the remaining months of the season.

Rangers are into the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup and are still very much in the battle for second place in the Scottish Premiership, so having a squad that is pushing each other could be hugely important if the Gers hope to end the campaign on a high.

It may only take one slice of good fortune for the chance to come Cardoso’s way, and if he continues to impress in training and work his socks off, then it may not be out of the question to suggest that he will be ready to take the opportunity with both hands.
