Carlos Pena is currently on loan from Rangers with Mexican side Necaxa.

Rangers midfielder Carlos Pena has already picked up his first bit of silverware at loan side Necaxa without even kicking a ball, as the Mexican side won the Supercopa MX – and fellow Ibrox flop Fabio Cardoso reacted on Twitter.

Mexico international Pena joined Rangers last summer as one of Pedro Caixinha’s big-money signings, but Caixinha was sacked and Pena was sent on loan to the ex-Ibrox manager’s new side – Cruz Azul.

Just eight appearances with the Mexican giants saw Pena hit the headlines more for his off-the-field antics, that included buying beer after training, urinating in a fountain and going AWOL.

His loan was eventually scrapped before joining Necaxa this summer and his spell with the Mexican side seems to have got off to a flyer, even though Pena was an unused substitute during the 1-0 win over Monterrey.

He posted a picture on Instagram alongside the trophy.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard allowed Pena to go out on loan again as his second spell under Caixinha did not work, and Gerrard has also got rid of high-earners Bruno Alves and Eduardo Herrera, the latter joining Santos Laguna on loan.

Cardoso, who could be next on the chopping block this summer after being told he will be afforded little game time by Gerrard, reacted on Twitter to the picture of Pena, posting a ‘heart eyes’ emoji.
