Glasgow Rangers defender Danny Wilson has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he failed to live up to his own expectations last season.
Wilson made 42 appearances for Rangers in all competitions last term, but he was not always the most consistent.
The centre-back had some lapses in concentration on occasion throughout Rangers’ season.
And Wilson said: “I did well in patches. I am looking to do better.
“There were bits and pieces I felt I could do better and I will be looking to do that this coming season.
“I am quite hard on myself but I know last season there were too many ups and downs for myself from a personal point of view last season and I will be looking to be a lot better this season.”
Wilson faces increased competition for places at Rangers next term, after Mark Warburton’s side invested heavily in their squad over the summer.
Rangers have brought in Clint Hill to bolster their defensive ranks next term, and another centre-back could be set to join in the near future.
Last season Rangers were promoted with a thin squad, but Warburton has been quick to add depth to his ranks for next campaign.
Rangers are looking to continue their success under Warburton, upon their return to the top tier.
The Light Blues get their competitive campaign underway with a match against Motherwell at the weekend in the League Cup.
