Glasgow Rangers defender Clint Hill and midfielder Joey Barton played with Dundee United’s Coll Donaldson at Queens Park Rangers.
Dundee United defender Coll Donaldson has suggested to The Glasgow Evening Times that Clint Hill will be a success at Rangers.
Hill has joined Scottish Premiership-bound Rangers on a free transfer after leaving Queens Park Rangers at the end of the 2015-16 season.
The former Stoke City and Crystal Palace defender, who is 37 years of age, played with Donaldson at London club QPR.
Donaldson, who is 21 years of age and plays as centre-back for United, believes that Hill will prove to be a good signing for Rangers.
The Gers won the Scottish Championship title last season and will feature in the Scottish Premiership during the 2016-17 campaign.
Rangers have also signed former Newcastle United and Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton on a free transfer this summer.
Donaldson played with Barton at QPR as well, and he has spoken highly of the Englishman.
“Clint is probably one of the best professionals I’ve ever seen first hand,” Donaldson told The Glasgow Evening Times. “He’s 37 but he’ll train every day and be in the gym after training every day.
“He’s a really good leader, he knows what it is about and he’ll be a good link between the playing staff and the coaching staff.
“When we were playing Joey was in the changing room riling everyone up but it was a joint effort with Clint because they are both Scouse and they are mates.
“They ran the dressing room together and it’s quite bizarre they’ve ended up in the same place. It’ll be a strong changing room next year at Rangers.”
Barton is a very good footballer, and Rangers fans will expect the former Newcastle midfielder to help the team push for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
Hill may be 37 years of age, but he has a lot of experience and will be important for Mark Warburton’s side during the 2016-17 campaign.
