Rangers have reportedly set their sights on bringing Ben Woodburn to Ibrox.

Rangers have reportedly made signing Ben Woodburn on loan a priority.

The Express report that new Rangers boss Steven Gerrard wants to land Woodburn, who he made captain of Liverpool’s under-19 UEFA Youth League side last season.

Bringing Woodburn to Ibrox would be a major coup for Rangers, and it would also see a U-turn made by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Rangers refused to loan Ben Woodburn out in January amid interest from Sunderland, The Express reported at the time.

Liverpool had plans to use him in first team action, although their excellent form means he has struggled for minutes.

Woodburn is an exciting 18-year-old forward who has already scored at international level for Wales, and for Liverpool’s first team.

Jurgen Klopp sanctioning a loan move to Rangers would see a U-turn from the German boss, and there may be a big reason why.

Nabil Fekir of Lyon (18) scores their first goal from the penalty spot during the UEFA Europa League Group E match between Everton FC and Olympique Lyon at Goodison Park on October 19,...

This is because the Reds plan to sign Lyon ace Nabil Fekir, with The Independent reporting the £62 million forward is closing in on a move to Anfield.

Fekir plays across the forward line off the striker, in just the position where Woodburn has been recently making his name.

Liverpool allowing Woodburn to head to Ibrox could be dependent on signing Fekir, or as a sign that they want to bring in the Frenchman.

If it happens, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are ideally placed to profit and give Woodburn the regular football he needs.
