Veteran Rangers star Steven Davis put in a stellar performance in this afternoon’s Old Firm rout of Celtic at Ibrox – and the Northern Irish legend was full of praise for Kemar Roofe after his double in the 4-1 win.

Roofe scored the first and third goals for Steven Gerrard’s side with Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe adding the others, but the former Leed’s star’s inclusion seemed to split fans on social media before the game – with many preferring Scott Wright to have started.

Despite injuries disrupting his debut campaign as a Rangers, Roofe still sits among the top scorers in the Scottish Premiership and Davis thinks he’s probably disappointed the season only has a few more games remaining.

“Everybody knows that whenever it is a bit stop/start in terms of injuries it can be hard to get your rhythm,” Davis told Rangers TV. He’s worked hard when he has been injured but things fell for him today, he’s taken his chances really well and was a nuisance throughout the game.
