David Martindale has played down any suggestion of him potentially becoming the new Rangers manager following Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s exit.
The Gers made the decision to sack Van Bronckhorst on Monday morning.
It’s not all that long ago that the Dutchman guided Rangers into the Europa League final.
However, Van Bronckhorst also suffered a dreadful Champions League campaign and Rangers now sit nine points adrift of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.

David Martindale won’t be the next Rangers boss
Rangers decided it was time for change and must now find a new manager for the second time in just over a year.
Michael Beale appears to be the favourite but a host of other names have been mentioned, including Gerardo Seoane and Sinisa Mihajlovic.
There haven’t really been mentions of any Scottish Premiership managers though, with Rangers seemingly looking further afield.
Livingston boss David Martindale did actually grow up supporting Rangers and spent time in the youth setup at Ibrox.
Livi sit fourth in the Scottish Premiership table with Martindale doing a great job of getting his side punching above their weight.
Martindale has now won the Scottish Premiership Manager of the Month award with his impressive work being recognised.
Rangers will probably have bigger plans than going for Martindale and he would be something of an unfashionable shout for the Gers.
Add in the difference in expectation from Livingston to Rangers and a move to Ibrox just doesn’t really seem likely.
Martindale seems to know that himself, too.
Speaking to Sky Sports earlier today, Martindale was asked whether he could be in contention for the Rangers job.
Martindale laughed it off, simply claiming that he won’t be the next Rangers manager.
“It’ll not be me, it’ll not be me, I can tell you that,” said Martindale.
Martindale never really seemed like a major contender for the job but the attention will now turn to the likes of Beale, who will be in contention.
