With Glasgow Rangers in the market for another winger after already signing one, Daniel Candeias must fight for his spot at Ibrox.
Daniel Candeias has had an okay start to life at Rangers following his £700,000 (Scottish Herald) summer move, but the 29-year-old needs a much better second half of the campaign if he wants to stay in the side.
The Portuguese winger has already been given serious competition in the form of Jamie Murphy, who can play on the left and right-hand side of attack.
But Rangers are reportedly also interested in Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones and signing him would really throw down the gauntlet to Candeias to keep his place.
The former Porto man could have had a worse first six months in Glasgow, but it could also have been a lot better and he will need to improve on his goalscoring.
Few can fault his productivity overall, having set up eight goals in all competitions since arriving, but he has only managed to score four times in 24 appearances which, for an attacking player, could be better.
Murphy is well used to scoring goals at this level after hitting 10 in 21 Premiership games for Motherwell during the 2012-13 season, while Jones can probably expect to score more in a better side than Kilmarnock, if the Gers go back in as expected after a failed £350,000 bid (BBC Sport).
If both hit the ground running in Glasgow then Candeias can either wave the white flag or dig in and keep pace. Unless he plans on doing the latter then he won’t be of much use.
