Rangers legend Ian Ferguson thinks Steven Gerrard’s side aren’t getting the credit they deserve for stopping Celtic winning ten titles in a row – insisting they also “deserve huge credit” for the way they’ve gone about their business this season.

Ferguson knows what it takes to lift silverware at Ibrox, winning ten league titles, five Scottish Cups and three League Cups in twelve trophy-laden years at Ibrox.

Having watched on as Gerrard’s side romped to the title and now sit on the brink on going an entire league season without losing, Ferguson believes the Gers haven’t had they praise they should have, telling the Scottish Sun: “Rangers deserve huge credit for the way they have played.

“At this moment in time they are probably not getting the credit they deserve for stopping the ten.

“This was the final assault for them and they’ve gone out there and done it. Man to man, they’ve stood up and done their job.

“The cups are an obvious disappointment because there will always be expectations at a club like Rangers.

“But they have won the one they needed to win and that shouldn’t be overlooked.

“Especially when you consider just how far ahead their big rivals were.

“You were beginning to doubt a wee bit given the way the team collapsed twice in January. They had to get over that and they did.”

With the Gers facing bitter rivals Celtic this weekend, Gerrard’s side will be desperate to bounce back from their Scottish Cup exit at the hands of St. Johnstone.

After winning 2-0 when the sides met earlier this month, a repeat in Sunday’s Old Firm clash would be the perfect outcome for Gerrard and his players.

If they do win, and end the season unbeaten against the Parkhead side, maybe they’ll get some more credit for their performances this season.
