Frank Lampard is still in contention to replace Steven Gerrard at Ibrox club Rangers along with Giovanni van Bronckhorst, according to De Telegraaf.
What’s the story?
Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf have reported that Rangers have held talks with former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
Rangers also held talks with former Ibrox star Van Bronckhorst, and they were positive.
Contradictory reports
This report in De Telegraaf contradicts what is being claimed by Sky Sports.
Sky Sports have reported that Rangers have a three-man shortlist for the managerial job.
Van Bronckhorst is one of them.
Lampard, who guided Derby County to the Championship playoff final, is not.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United manager Harry Redknapp told The Scottish Sun this month that Lampard would be “perfect” for Rangers.

Rangers fans should be patient
Rangers released a statement yesterday saying that they are in control of the managerial situation.
We have to give the club some time to get the right manager in.
After all, Gerrard left for Aston Villa only last week.
Of course, club football will resume this coming weekend, but Rangers need to make sure that they get the right manager in, not just for now, but for the long term as well.
