The Rangers striker remains a key part of Steven Gerrard’s plans at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard has warned Bordeaux off making a new bid for Alfredo Morelos, the Rangers striker.
And there’s a good chance the French side have received the Ibrox manager’s message, to potentially leave Rangers in the clear.
According to Sky Sports, Bordeaux – whose manager, Gus Poyet, was suspended on Friday after calling the owners a ‘disgrace’ for selling Gaetan Laborde, the striker, to Montpellier – have since made contact with Fulham over the signing Rui Fonte.
And while it’s possible the Navy-and-Whites could still target the Fonte as well as Morelos, the Fulham player – who stands at the same height (5ft 11ins) and favours the same position (behind the main striker) as Laborde – looks a more natural replacement than his Rangers counterpart.

Fonte is almost certainly more attainable, too, with the Daily Mirror reporting that Fulham have offered his services to European clubs, whereas Morelos, clearly, remains a key part of Gerrard’s plans at Rangers.
The only problem is that, according to Sky Sports, Bordeaux are not alone in their Fonte interest, and failing to land the Portuguese could see Morelos bumped back to the top of their list – that’s if he ever left it.
