Rangers are searching for a new manager, and, in our view, Duncan Ferguson ticks a lot of boxes for the Glasgow club.
As a former player, Ferguson certainly understands the demands of working for a club like Rangers, and he’s in the market for a senior coaching job after leaving Everton.
Indeed, Ferguson stated that he left the Toffees last season due to the fact he wanted to manage full-time.
“I had to move on in the end because the club could’ve put me in until the end of the season, that’s what I wanted, but it never quite happened for me so that’s why I moved away from the club in the end. I left on good terms. I love the club but I thought it was the right time for me to move on,” Ferguson said on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast.

Now, with the Rangers job available, it may be time for him to make that next step.
Rangers have a talented squad, that’s for sure, but under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, they’ve looked unmotivated in recent months, but that would change overnight if Ferguson was appointed.
As one of the most passionate, and somewhat intimidating, figures in world football, Ferguson would immediately raise the standards at Ibrox and get the players fighting for the shirt once again.
He’s no slouch tactically either. He’s worked under some talented managers in recent years in the shape of Rafa Benitez and Carlo Ancelotti, and Ancelotti even recommended Ferguson to Blackburn Rovers earlier this year – so he’s clearly rated.
Factor in that he’s always done a tremendous job when he’s been forced into the Everton hotseat as a caretaker boss, and you have the makings of a very good manager who just needs to cut his teeth.
Rangers of all clubs know how beneficial it can be to give a budding manager their first senior job – appointing Steven Gerrard worked wonders, and they could repeat the trick with Ferguson here.
Bringing Ferguson in to replace van Bronckhorst makes a lot of sense.
