Rangers have confirmed the club’s Europa League fixtures after yesterday’s draw placed the Light Blues in Group A alongside Lyon, Brøndby and Sparta Prague – but Gers fans have been warned not to make any travel arrangements just yet.
The Light Blues will kick off their fourth consecutive Europa League group stage campaign with the visit of French giants Lyon on September 16 before a trip to Prague two weeks later to face Sparta.
After a three-week break from European competition, Steven Gerrard’s side face Danes Brøndby home and away with the Ibrox leg taking place on October 21 and the away meeting on November 4.
The final two fixtures see Rangers welcome Sparta to Ibrox on November 25 before a trip to France to finish off the groups on December 9.
While fans are eagerly anticipating the prospect of trips to Prague, Lyon and Copenhagen(ish), UEFA have yet to give approval for visiting fans to travel.
Thousands of Rangers supporters are expected to follow the Scottish champions across Europe as they look to secure their place in the knockout phase.
After the introduction of the Europa Conference League led to a revamp of the Europa League, the possible outcome of the groups is much-changed to 12 months ago.
Winning the group would send Rangers straight into the last 16 while finishing second would put the Gers into the new playoff round where they would face one of the teams dropping out of the Champions League groups stage to join the eight Europa League group winners in the last 16.
Another change introduced this season will see teams who finish third in their Europa League group get a parachute into a playoff against teams who finished second in the Europa Conference League groups for a place in the last 16 of the new competition.
