Rangers coach Michael Beale has congratulated youngster Stephen Kelly on Twitter.

The 19-year-old left the Gers to join Ayr United on loan this summer.

And the Rangers midfielder opened his account for the Championship club in this afternoon’s visit of Queen of the South.

It was a wonderful first league goal for Kelly and here’s what Beale – first-team coach under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox – wrote on Twitter.

Gerrard is reportedly a ‘huge fan’ [The Scottish Sun] of the Auchenhowie gem and he’ll no doubt be pleased to hear about this goal.

Kelly, who also scored in the League Cup for United, is obviously a big talent and leaving Rangers on a short-term basis was the smart move here.

Gerrard has an unbelievable amount of incredibly-talented midfielders and despite his promise, Kelly had no chance of playing for the seniors this season.
