Rangers coach Billy Kirkwood has told the club website he was thrilled with Jordan Rossiter’s contribution to the development squad yesterday.

The injury troubled 21-year-old was given a rare run out in Rangers 2-1 win over FC Copenhagen.

The former England under-20 international is among the most experienced players for the side which turned out yesterday and Kirkwood thanked Rossiter for guiding them through.

Kirkwood told the club website: “That’s two or three games he has had with us now, and he has been absolutely fantastic with the younger kids in the dressing room.

“You can tell he has been brought up well at Liverpool and has played at a really good level. His knowledge of the game and his talking and organisation, our lads can only learn from that.”

Rossiter has not featured for Rangers’ first team under Graeme Murty, last appearing in September. He has just four games to his name all season.

He is under contract at Ibrox until 2020, and Rangers will have to hope that at some stage his luck with injuries will improve.

For now they are at least benefitting from him helping out the younger players, and the game time should build up his confidence as he aims to kickstart what appeared to be a very promising career.
