Glasgow Rangers youngster Liam Burt is making waves in the under-20s side.

Glasgow Rangers fans will likely already be well aware of the precocious talent of Liam Burt, the brightest talent in their youth academy.

Burt, 17, made his first team debut for the Light Blues last season in the Scottish Championship, and is continuing to impress for the club’s under-20 side.

In his most recent appearance, Burt scored two goals in the Youth Cup victory over Hearts, including a tremendous 40-yard chip.

Speaking to Rangers’ official website, head of development Graeme Murty raved about Burt’s impressive display in the 5-2 win.

He said: “You have to talk about Ryan Hardie grabbing a couple of goals and Liam Burt topping it off with what has to be the best goal of the round and possibly goal of the season.

“His vision, execution and the audacity to go and try it was something that really stood out.”

Ryan Hardie bagged a hat-trick in the victory, while Billy Gilmour was the youngest player on the pitch at just 15-years-old.

For all the talk about Celtic’s dominance in the top flight, the impressive talents in Rangers’ youth system offer real hope for the future that the kids can bring the glory days back to Ibrox.

It is a lot of pressure to place on the youngsters, and there could be a couple of seasons before they start making an impact, but there is real reason for supporters to be optimistic.
