Glasgow Rangers released Lee Hodson this summer after three years at Ibrox.

Michael Beale has sent a message of congratulations to Lee Hodson after the former Rangers defender sealed a move following his Ibrox release.
As reported by BBC Sport, the Northern Ireland international has joined Gillingham on a two-year deal having been released by the Gers earlier in the summer following three years at Ibrox.
It is no surprise that Steven Gerrard decided to let Hodson leave at the end of his Rangers deal. He had spent this past season out on loan with St Mirren having previously struggled to push ahead of James Tavernier in the pecking order.
He is unfortunately not going to be a signing that the Ibrox faithful remember particularly fondly, but Rangers coach Beale sent him a message to wish him well ahead of his new challenge.

Here is Beale’s tweet to the 27-year-old…
Underwhelming signing
In fairness to Hodson, there were a couple of occasions when he featured where he did look impressive. But the writing has been on the wall for a while with James Tavernier becoming such an important player and the likes of Jon Flanagan and more recently, Matt Polster arriving.
It certainly looks to be a move that suits all parties at this stage of Hodson’s career.
