Rangers swooped to sign teenager Charlie McCann from Manchester United last summer – and he has already won an award at Ibrox.
The Gers have been active when it comes to adding young players to their ranks in recent times.
The likes of Tony Weston, Johnly Yfeko, Charlie Lindsay, James Graham, Kevin Ciubotaru and Christian Mulindwa have all arrived at Ibrox.
Last summer, Rangers raided Manchester United with a deal to sign midfielder McCann.
Signing the 20-year-old wasn’t exactly cheap; Rangers agreed a deal worth around £750,000 to bring McCann to Ibrox.
McCann was highly rated at United but they decided to cash in for a substantial fee given his lack of senior action.
McCann has been in the Rangers academy setup this season and has clearly impressed.
At the Rangers award ceremony on Sunday, McCann was named Rangers’ Academy Player of the Year.
The focus was mostly on Young Player of the Year Calvin Bassey and men’s Player of the Year James Tavernier, but McCann grabbed an award too.
That’s a strong first season at Rangers for McCann, who admitted his delight at receiving the award.

Having seen Alex Lowry feature in the Rangers first-team setup this season, McCann will be hoping for the same rise next season.
McCann can provide depth in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s midfield, which will be vital given the advancing years of Steven Davis and Scott Arfield.
Rangers need youth and energy in midfield in the coming years, with McCann no doubt brought in for that exact reason.
£750,000 is a considerable fee to pay for an academy player in Rangers’ position; for instance, that’s more than Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara cost combined!
McCann therefore must take this award and develop in the coming years, with Rangers no doubt hoping United’s loss is their gain.
