Rangers chairman comments on Gers’ January transfer plan

Glasgow Rangers manager Mark Warburton will get money to sign players in the January transfer window, says Dave King.

Rangers chairman Dave King has told The Glasgow Evening Times that manager Mark Warburton will be given funds in the January transfer window.

“He does have [a budget for January] – the view we have taken with Mark is that he must continue to look at his squad,” King told The Glasgow Evening Times.

King’s comments are certainly going to be welcomed by the Rangers fans.

The Gers’ plans to sign players in the January transfer window underlines the club’s ambition.

Rangers won automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship to the Scottish Premiership at the end of last season.

Warburton’s side have not been able to compete with Old Firm rivals Celtic, who are firm favourites to clinch the Scottish Premiership title this season.

The Glasgow giants are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 26 points from 14 matches.

Rangers are eight points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have two games in hand.

The Gers are two points clear of third-placed Aberdeen, who have a match in hand.

Warburton’s side will take on Heart of Midlothian away from home at the Tynecastle Stadium in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening.

Hearts are fourth in the league table at the moment with 23 points from 14 matches.
