Rangers and Celtic want Bailey Rice as the two Glasgow rivals fight to sign the Motherwell talent – but they face a battle with English clubs.

It wouldn’t be a summer transfer window without Rangers and Celtic being linked with the same players.

Maybe agents just know that including both clubs in a transfer rumour can gain traction.

We have already seen the likes of Stephen Odey and Rabbi Matondo linked with both Rangers and Celtic this summer.

You can now add another name to that list with Motherwell target Rice wanted by both clubs.

Rangers and Celtic want Bailey Rice

The Daily Record report that Rangers and Celtic have both made opening bids to sign Rice from Motherwell this summer.

Talks are underway and the Scotland Under-17 international is having to weigh up his future at the age of just 15.

Motherwell want to keep Rice but a Premier League has now come forward to rival Rangers and Celtic in the race for his signature.

Rice doesn’t turn 16 until later this year but he is already a man in demand.

Rangers and Celtic allegedly see defender Rice as one of the top young talents in Scotland – and you can always be sure that the Glasgow pair will always be in the market for those players.

Motherwell understandably want major add-ons included in any deal for Rice as they hope to rake in cash down the line.

Both Rangers and Celtic have raided Motherwell for their young homegrown talents in recent times.

David Turnbull emerged in the Motherwell ranks before landing a big move to Celtic back in 2020.

Now shining for Celtic, Turnbull will be vital for Ange Postecoglou for years to come.

Rangers landed exciting winger Jake Hastie back in 2018 having shown promise with Motherwell, but he has now left Ibrox after failing to live up to his billing.

Rice could go either way, but the hope will be that he’s another Turnbull rather than another Hastie.
