Kevin Nisbet appears to be heading for Millwall and Barry Ferguson can’t believe that Rangers aren’t trying to bring him to Ibrox.

Millwall have been pushing to sign Nisbet this week and it looks like they have landed their man.

The Lions have agreed a deal worth £2million rising to £2.5million, with Nisbet set to undergo a medical and agree terms in the next 48 hours.

Millwall have been chasing a new striker to boost their promotion hopes and the deal for Nisbet appears to be close.

Nisbet has only played seven times this season due to injury but has been in blistering form since returning in December, racking up seven goals in those seven games.

The 25-year-old has now smashed 34 goals in 88 games for Hibernian and looks set to earn his big move to England.

Barry Ferguson can’t believe Rangers aren’t going for Kevin Nisbet

That’s another talent leaving Scottish football and Barry Ferguson thinks Rangers and Celtic are both missing a trick.

Speaking on the The Go Radio Football Show, former Rangers captain Ferguson admitted that Rangers and Celtic not going for Nisbet ‘baffles’ him.

Ferguson feels that Nisbet is absolutely good enough to play for one of the Glasgow giants and thinks £2million is a great price for the striker.

Ferguson can’t understand why Rangers aren’t looking at more talent from their Scottish Premiership rivals, believing they have found quality attackers through that route before.

“It would be a great signing for Millwall, but it baffles me why Rangers or Celtic aren’t in. I was going to say he is a risk or a gamble but he’s not even that, he’s good enough to play for the Old Firm,” said Ferguson. “I am surprised there has been no contact. Listen, there is a few days left and we have seen it in the past with good young players going for a couple of million like my nephew Lewis and (Josh) Doig away to Italy as well, and (Aaron) Hickey before that.”

“I like to see these young guys being kept in Scotland. I know eventually they will move to the bigger leagues but for me Kevin Nisbet at £2million I am taking him all day long. The biggest thing for me is it looks like he has physically matured now. He has got everything in his locker, but whether Hibs don’t want to do deals with Rangers or Celtic I don’t know, but if I am at Rangers I am really interested and want to try do business.”

“Rangers have always had guys like Billy Dodds, Boydy (Kris Boyd), Steven Naismith, Steven Thompson and Kenny Miller. They have went and got strikers from other clubs in Scotland and brought them in, I don’t know why they are not doing that,” he added.

Rangers certainly need another striker moving forward and Ferguson believes Nisbet could have been an ideal addition for Michael Beale’s side.

Celtic’s need for a striker is a little less pressing after signing South Korean ace Oh Hyeon-gyu this week.

Still, the Bhoys were linked with a move for Nisbet earlier in the window and have seemingly felt that Oh was a better signing for Ange Postecoglou.
