Gary Neville has said on LADbible TV that Glasgow Rangers stadium Ibrox had the best atmosphere, even better than Celtic Park of Celtic.

The former Manchester United defender played against Rangers at Ibrox and against Celtic at Celtic Park during his playing career.

The Sky Sports pundit has said that the atmosphere at Ibrox was the best he has ever come across as a player and has branded it as “unbelievable”.

Neville has added that the atmosphere at Celtic Park was “incredible”, but he has made it clear that he was blown away by Ibrox even more.

When asked on LADbible TV which ground he played at had the best atmosphere, Neville said: “Ibrox. Honestly, we played them up there in the Champions League game.

“Celtic Park was incredible. Turkey, Istanbul, Galatasaray, is probably the most ferocious atmosphere that I have ever seen, but Ibrox is definitely the loudest.

“I remember before the game at the point around kickoff, just before, I don’t think I have heard noise like it.

“That’s all the greatest stadiums around Europe and the world. It was unbelievable, it was absolutely unbelievable.”

Rangers and Celtic are two of the biggest clubs in the world, and the Old Firm rivalry is one of the most intense on the planet.

Celtic and Rangers do not often get the recognition and respect that they deserve because the Scottish Premiership is not at the level of some of the top divisions in Europe.

However, Neville’s comments about Ibrox and Celtic Park show just how big an impact Rangers and Celtic fans can have on opposition players.

Rangers and Celtic are playing in the Europa League this season, and perhaps in the coming years, the Gers and the Hoops will become regulars in the Champions League.
