Paul Merson has said on Sky Sports News (2:07pm, January 31, 2022) that rumour that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers could bring Aaron Ramsey to Ibrox is bad news for Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic.

The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit believes that Rangers would be a better team with Ramsey in it.

TMW have reported that Juventus have agreed to let former Arsenal midfielder Ramsey join Rangers on loan for the rest of the season.

The Italian news outlet has claimed that Juventus will cover most of the Wales international midfielder’s salary during his time at Ibrox.

Merson said: “Brilliant for Rangers, absolutely brilliant news. Bad news for Celtic. Brilliant news for Rangers.”

Rangers v Celtic title challenge

In our view, if Ramsey joins Rangers, then it will enhance their chances of winning the Scottish Premiership title ahead of Celtic.

Again.

Steven Gerrard, now at Aston Villa, guided the Gers to the league title last season.

Rangers are doing well at the moment and are two points clear of their bitter Old Firm rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership title.

Celtic do have a good team and are on a roll under manager Postecoglou, but Ramsey’s potential arrival at Ibrox could give Rangers a big advantage.

The former Arsenal star is a very dynamic midfielder who was massive in the Premier League, and he would make Rangers an even better team in the middle of the park.
