Ibrox skipper Lee Wallace will play no part in Glasgow Rangers’ Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Celtic this weekend.

Rangers captain Lee Wallace has told the club’s official website that it is a huge disappointment for him that he will play no part in the upcoming Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Celtic.
Wallace has not featured for the Gers since the draw with Motherwell at Ibrox at the very start of the month due to a hernia problem (via club’s official website).
And the left-back has expressed how much of a blow it has been to face up to the fact that he will have to watch the Hampden Park showdown from the sidelines, but insisted that he is making the right decision by not looking to come back too soon.
“It’s a huge disappointment. I never like missing any game never mind the main games of the season, and with it being the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, we all know the power involved in that gamer, and the memories of a year past and the last semi-final,” he told the club’s official website.

“Everybody knew the importance of that game, and the record we have when we play Celtic in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
“We want to hold that up, and carry on the momentum we have gained since the manager has come in. Of course, it’s disappointing but it’s important for me that I get this right, I get my rest and I come back stronger.”
The news will be a blow to Rangers’ squad as the skipper’s experience may have been something that Pedro Caixinha would have preferred to have been able to call upon, but it may also be somewhat positive news for Myles Beerman, who has stepped in in Wallace’s absence in recent weeks.

Beerman has been fairly impressive since making his debut for the Gers, helping the side keep a clean sheet in all three of his appearances for the team.
But the clash against Celtic will certainly be his toughest test to date. And while Wallace will be hoping that he can get back into the team as quickly as possible once he returns to full fitness, he will surely hope that Beerman’s display means that the supporters do not miss him in the slightest.
