Rangers captain Lee Wallace has been singing the praises of his team-mate Rob Kiernan this week, after the defender’s recent good form.

That form saw the centre-back score his first goal for the club in the 2-0 win against Hearts recently, which left the Ibrox faithful and manager Mark Warburton very happy for the player.

Speaking to RangersTV this week the left-back commented on Kiernan’s recent form and insisted he had all the attributes to make it to the top of the game in his career:

“Yeah, he fully deserved that and I’ve seen the manager’s comments on Rob and I can only agree.

“I think Rob has all the attributes to go to the very top and I think, in how we play, how he can dominate that position, not just in his defensive responsibilities but how we maximise our possession and how we build through the thirds.

“Rob epitomises that, the natural, modern-day centre half in terms of stepping into the midfield, playing a left-foot or right-foot diagonal 50 or 60 yards pinpoint pass.”

Rangers signed Kiernan in 2015 from Wigan Athletic. The 25-year-old was known to Rangers boss Mark Warburton from their time together at Watford and from a loan spell at Brentford.

He has had his problems settling in at Rangers but at present is looking like he is finally in a good and consistent run of form at Ibrox.

Kiernan is the type of defender that Warburton likes, because of his ability to play the ball and that will leave him in good stead going forward with his career.

Hopefully that will mean success for a long time at Rangers.
