One of Glasgow Rangers’ brightest prospects, Palmer is currently plying his trade away from Ibrox on loan.

Glasgow Rangers academy prodigy Cammy Palmer has admitted that breaking into the Ibrox first team is currently difficult as a midfielder due to the competition in the middle of the park being “probably the highest that it has been for a while” (Glasgow Evening Times).
The 19-year-old, who captained last season’s Reserve League winning side, signed a Rangers contract extension in June to keep him on the books at Ibrox until 2021, and a month later he sealed a switch to Partick Thistle until January.
Palmer has quickly become an important part of Gary Caldwell’s plans as he has made a solid start to the season with the Jags and he knows that the match time he is picking up Firhill will be crucial if he wants to catch Steven Gerrard’s eye next year.
“If you want to play for Rangers, you need to have some of that experience and it is hard to go straight in,” Palmer is quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times as saying.

“The competition for midfield is probably the highest that it has been for a while and all of those guys have so many games behind them. Look at Davis, he has had such a long career and Jack and Aribo have played at a really high level, as has Andy King who has come in as well. So it is not easy to get in front of them.”
As noted by the Partick Thistle website, Palmer has represented Scotland at Under-17s level before going on to play with the Northern Ireland Under-19s, playing four times and scoring once at that level.
Palmer was part of the Rangers reserve group who took part in a games programme in 2017-18 in which the Ibrox side took on the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester City (official Gers website), something they have embarked on again following their withdrawal from the SPFL Reserve League.
