Rangers admire St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson as they consider potential replacements for Steven Gerrard following his departure.
Rangers lost Gerrard on Thursday morning as his move to Aston Villa was confirmed.
Gerrard heads back to England to replace Dean Smith, leaving Rangers rocked and scrambling for a new boss.
Ross Wilson will now have to work quickly to try and find the right man over the international break.
The Athletic now claim that St Johnstone boss Davidson is one option as he is rated by decision-makers inside Ibrox.
Who is potential Rangers target Davidson?
Davidson picked up 19 caps for Scotland whilst turning out for St Johnstone, Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City and Preston North End.
The 45-year-old turned to coaching as he learned under Tommy Wright and Gary Rowett before becoming St Johnstone boss in 2020.

In his first season in management, Davidson guided St Johnstone to an incredible domestic cup double.
That took St Johnstone into Europe, with Galatasaray dumping them out of the Europa League qualifiers.
Davidson will surely land a bigger job down the line, and it’s no surprise that Rangers like him.
Davidson’s style of play isn’t quite as attack-minded as Rangers fans are used to though, and fans may prefer somebody with title-winning and European experience, like a Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
