Rangers face a new battle for Fleetwood Town central defender James Hill with Burnley now set to make a bid for the youngster.
Rangers made a bid for Hill late in August as they attempted to sign him before the transfer deadline.
Unfortunately, as reported by the Daily Record, Fleetwood rejected the bid.
That report added that Liverpool and Manchester United also fancy signing Hill, who has been shining in League One.
All three clubs could miss out now though, as Burnley are pushing themselves to the front of the queue.
The Sun claim that Burnley will make a bid of around £2million for Hill in January.
Burnley are even prepared to send young defender Bobby Thomas on loan to Fleetwood as part of the deal.
Given that Hill is out of contract at the end of the season, that deal seems very appealing.
If Rangers secured a pre-contract agreement with Hill, Fleetwood would only have received a few hundred thousand pounds.
Bringing in millions for Hill is much better for Fleetwood, even if he leaves a few months earlier than planned.
Rangers may have been eyeing an absolute bargain, but Burnley now lead the race.
There is still time for Rangers to come back in strong, but if £2million is on the table from Burnley, a move to Ibrox will seem unlikely.
