Rangers defender Bruno Alves is again being linked with a move away from Ibrox.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports Alves ‘will soon arrive at Parma’ in a move that will see the Portuguese return to Italian football a year after leaving Cagliari for Rangers.
The Gers have already strengthened their central defensive options with the signings of Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic this summer.
And that could open the door for Alves to depart a year before his Ibrox deal is due to expire.
The Daily Record reported last month that Rangers had blocked the 36-year-old’s move to Vitoria Guimaraes, with the Portuguese side hoping the Gers would pay up his contract, enabling themselves to offer lower wages.
Alves, who was part of Portugal’s squad for this summer’s World Cup, is said to earn £28,000 a week at Ibrox – at least four times more than any Vitoria player.
Parma, however, may stand a better chance of funding Alves’s transfer, having secured their return to Serie A three years after their relegation to Serie D.
